Ways to Volunteer

Ways to Volunteer

You can volunteer at Oakwood Elementary School in the following ways:

  • Bring food for staff appreciation lunches
  • Volunteer to staff Duty Free Lunches that take place once a month
  • Help with fundraising efforts by assisting with Oakwood spirit nights held at local restaurants throughout the year
  • Donate items to the clothing closet
  • Sign up to proctor classrooms during testing hours
  • Volunteer during events such as Spring Carnival and Field Day

Staff Appreciation Lunches

The PTA Hospitality Committee organizes these lunches throughout the school year. Parents are contacted about contributing store bought or homemade foods along with paper products, decorations, etc.

Duty Free Lunches

Oakwood teachers do not take a lunch break; they eat in the cafeteria with their students each day. The PTA Volunteer Coordinator organizes parent volunteers each month to cover the three lunch shifts so teachers can have a true “Duty Free” Lunch.

Clothing Closet

The clothing closet provides articles of clothing for students in need. You can help by donating new or gently used clothes for students. We often need all sizes for girls and boys. Please bring items you wish to donate to the school office to be given to our Guidance Counselor, Dena Nigrelli.
